    Hello room 13 families,

Thank you to all who were able to make it to our Open House last week!  The kids were so proud to show you their hard work.  Please be on the lookout for all of their wonderful work coming home this week and next.

We are all finished with state testing, and I'm so proud of the kids.  They worked really hard, persevered, took their time, and tried their best on these very difficult exams. They are amazing!

This week is our last school spirit event of the year, and it's Color Clash Week!  We are in Team Blue Blitz.  The kids are encouraged to wear as much blue as they can on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week.  There will be fun games and points awarded for kind and responsible actions at school.  Go Blue Blitz!

iPad turn-in day is this Wednesday, May 22.  Please return the Apple charging cord and brick that were checked out to the kids at the beginning of the year on this day.  The district asks that broken or worn out cords/bricks be replaced with Apple products only.

We will have our last multiplication fact assessment this Thursday.  The kids are expected to be fluent with multiplication facts through 10 by this time.  Please encourage them to practice if they need to.

We hope that you will be able to join us for the 3rd grade awards assembly this Thursday, May 23 at 1:30 PM in the multi-purpose room.  Please allow plenty of time for parking.  The campus tends to be busier than usual this time of year.  All students will receive an award.

We have been busy preparing for our class production of "Munchkin Mediation: Conflict Resolution in Oz" next Wednesday, May 29, at 8:45 AM in the classroom.  It's usually a full house! This week we will get costumes out to see what fits, and what might be needed from home.  The kids should be bringing home a paper on Monday saying what they might need to look for at home to add to their costume.  *If you happen to have red Dorothy shoes from a costume at home and would be willing to let us borrow them for the play, please let me know.  Our Dorothy is in need of some red shoes.

We have been reading the book The Wizard of Oz to give the kids some background on what our class play is based on.  We are almost finished with it, and sometime later this week, we'll watch the movie in class.  Please let me know if you'd prefer your child not watch the film.  It's rated G, but it does have a wicked witch and flying monkeys, which I thought were scary when I was a kid!  (But, that was a very long time ago....and things have changed some!)

We plan to have a dress rehearsal for the play on Tuesday, May 28 at 10:30 in the classroom.  I would be grateful for a couple of parent volunteers who could come in before both the dress rehearsal and the play on Wednesday, 5/29 to help me get the kids in costume, do face paint for those characters who are using it, and just help manage 31 very excited kiddos on those mornings!  Please let me know if you can help out.  Thank you!

Our 3rd Grade Field Day is scheduled for Tuesday, May 28 from 8:30-10:00 AM. We'll have some fun outdoor activities planned for the kids, followed by a pizza lunch.  The kids should come dressed for field day in appropriate clothing for physical activity, and sneakers for running.  Sunblock and hats are always encouraged.  We will be asking for $3 donations to help offset the cost of the pizza.  Please look for a note coming home on Monday.

PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THESE UPCOMING EVENTS!
